Finally! Sunday night a deal was made to reopen the government. Although the deal is temporary, this is great news for federal workers and SNAP recipients. 8 Democrats broke the filibuster and voted to reopen the government. The other Senate Democrats who voted against reopening the government are now furious that people will be able to continue their life as normal. SNAP benefits will be released, federal services will be fully restored and federal workers will be able to pay their bills. This is further proof that this was a "Democrat Shutdown". Their plan was to hinder working families and cause them to suffer while they continue receiving their paychecks. While some are claiming Senate Democrats caved, others say this was the best decision for the working poor.
The reopening of government offices marks a significant shift for citizens and public services. After a period of limited access or closures, many people are eager to know what to expect.
Now that a deal has been made, government offices will resume normal operating hours, which will allow face to face interactions for services, including applying for a driver's license, attending court hearings and other social services. Backlogs of applications can now be addressed and airports will begin to function as normal. This reopening will also create an economic boost. Workers will return to their offices, which will lead to an increase of foot traffic for nearby restaurants and shops. Government programs for housing, and education will also continue. It is unfortunate that the majority of Senate Democrats do not want these essential services restored. Furthermore you can expect internet outrage from unhinged radical liberals.
