Traditional Retail Shopping Expected To Shift Overtime. Here's What To Expect.

Expect to see more brick and mortar stores closing in the future due to the increasing number of online purchases in America. Online shopping has dramatically changed how Americans buy products and services. With the rapid rise of e-commerce, traditional shopping methods have shifted, creating new habits and expectations among consumers. Nearly 80% of American adults have made online purchases, a substantial increase over the past two decades.

This shift is driven by technology advancements, storing your credit card number on your smartphone making it exceptionally easy to make a purchase at the click of a button. Consumers have easy access to a vast selection of products and can shop from the comfort of their homes at any time. Having this type of access has caused several chain stores to permanently close the doors of their physical locations. The demand for having items delivered has increased significantly. Although it is convenient, some neighborhoods are left without having a nearby drug store. Typically in low income communities. Some claim that stores like CVS, and Walgreens are choosing to close their locations because of increased theft. When actually thefts only make up roughly 13% of the reason why most stores are choosing to close. Even with the convenience of online shopping, brick and mortar stores are definitely making a comeback. People crave first class experience by talking to a store associate directly; this also eliminates return hassles. Either way, the good news is that brick and mortar stores are making a comeback and foot traffic is expected to return back to normal as it was prior to the pandemic.
