It was such an honor to speak with Jacqueline Romero as she met with residents in the Philadelphia area. Jacqueline Romero is the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. In over 200 years of U.S. Attorney history she is the first Latino Female to hold the U.S. Attorney position. Recently a Philadelphia neighborhood held a community engagement meeting to discuss second chances for convicted felons and public safety solutions. Not only was Jacqueline present but the U.S. Marshals were also in attendance to address illegal gun activity in the city. We all know how unlikely it is for this type of support to attend an urban community meeting. Issues that are typically swept under the rug or forgotten about were addressed. The people of these communities were finally able to be heard by those in high political positions. Although change for the better may take years, some local neighbors feel they are one step closer when we all work together!
